Synergic Swift Publication Private Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) wants everyone to be able to find, read and buy our books and use our website, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the standard we work to, what we do, what we know is not yet right, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our standard
We work to make this website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA. These are the standards referred to by the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) and the accessibility standards under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, which ask that information and communication technology be accessible to persons with disabilities.
What we do
- Pages use clear headings, landmarks and labels, so that screen readers and other assistive technologies can navigate them. A “Skip to content” link is provided.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard, and the keyboard focus is always visible.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Decorative images, animations and 3D effects are hidden from assistive technologies, and the information they suggest is also given in text.
- Text and controls are designed to meet colour-contrast requirements, and colour is never the only way information is shown.
- If you ask your device to reduce motion, we switch off parallax, tilt and automatic animation.
- Pages work on small screens from 320 pixels wide and when text is enlarged, without scrolling sideways.
- Forms have visible labels, explain what is required, and announce errors clearly next to the field concerned.
- Carousels can be paused and controlled with buttons.
- Our Privacy Policy is available in Hindi as well as English.
Known limitations
We know that some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible:
- PDF files: some catalogues, sample chapters and teacher resources are PDF files that may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need one in another format, ask us and we will try to provide an accessible alternative.
- Sample pages and book previews: images of book pages cannot convey every detail of the page in text. We describe the book in text on its page.
- Services run by others: the payment gateway’s checkout, maps, video players and social media embeds are provided by other companies, and their accessibility is outside our control. If one of them causes you a problem, tell us and we will help you complete what you were doing another way.
